Health Soil Association Organic Preparation and Safety Cooking instructions: Oven Oven cooked from chilled. If freezing at home, defrost thoroughly before cooking. Before cooking: Preheat oven. Remove all packaging including the trussing band. Place chicken in a roasting tray on the middle shelf of the oven. During cooking: Spoon over juices. After cooking: Check food is piping hot. Leave to stand for 10 minutes before carving. All cooking appliances vary. This is a guide only. Oven cook from chilled 190oC / Fan 170oC / Gas 5 20 mins per 500g + 25 mins If stuffing, place in the neck of the chicken. Weigh the chicken with the stuffing to recalculate the cooking time. For best results, brush the skin with oil and season with salt and pepper before cooking. Warnings: Don't wash raw chicken Keep raw poultry separate from cooked foods. Use separate kitchen utensils and surfaces for raw poultry and cooked foods or wash them thoroughly in between use. Wash hands after handling raw poultry. Cook raw poultry thoroughly until it is piping hot throughout and no pink colour remains. Poultry is cooked if the juices run clear when the deepest part of the flesh is pierced with a thin skewer.
