Like, no, it’s HOT, seriously hot.
Did I mention, it’s SPICY

"As advertised, it’s a HOT soup. It does NOT disappoint in that area! Could use slightly more sausage crumbles, but it’s perfectly delicious if hot food is your thing. Do not take the hot warnings lightly, as this is seriously hot and not for those who say they like spicy food, but have not experienced anything spicier than a TGIF Buffalo Wing sauce, because this is at least 10x more spicy than that, easily. No warning on the spice “hit” as it occurs instantly. So be ready for it."

TOO Spicy!

"I live in TX and eat spicy food all the time. Not sure what Progresso was trying to do but this soup is so spicy that I couldn't eat it. It was like they dumped a tablespoon of cayenne in the can. Two spoons of it is all I could take. I usually try to transform things if I can save it - but this was something even I couldn't repurpose. Had to toss it. Giving you fair warning folks! "

"If you like hot peppers (I don't mean Jalapeños) and are a fan of Jambalaya, this soup is for you. Based on the heat level and flavour, my money is on them using Caribbean Red Habanero peppers (400,000 on the Scoville scale). Not as hot as Black Congo peppers, Red Savina Habaneros, or Spansih Naga Peppers, etc., but very nice heat.. Wonderful flavour. Chock full of meat, The sausage is very tasty. If you think Jalapeños are hot peppers (8,000 on the Scoville scale.), this soup is not for you ."

"This Soup is Quite good for what it is. Its Not What I Would Call Jambalaya, Its more Soupy than Actual Jambalaya, I guess thats why its called soup. I was caught off guard eating the first can, as i was quite certain it would not have much flavor, but i was proven wrong. I will be buying more cans! "I concur that Progesso has ruined their soups (Chicken Tortilla, esp. for me) by newly making them so damn HOT! The Chicken Tortilla does this but claims a mere "Medium" heat. I like hot-spiced foods, but am certainly not among those seeking to set records on the thermometer. For them, there are many, easy ways to increase heat. Even I will often add one or another hot sauce (I like the chili-garlic ones from Viet Nam) or hot-pepper flakes. But we can't get RID of Pro's excess heat!"

"Progresso did not lie about it being spicy and I love spicy.. but it's almost unenjoyable. Somehow the taste does come through the heat just a bit. I won't buy again, but this is perfect for someone that really enjoys heat. "

"This is the hottest soup I have ever eaten and not just out of a can. My mouth, tongue, and throat are still burning several hours later. Just took a Tums to try and remedy my heartburn. According to my husband, hotter than any Jambalaya he has ever eaten - including what he has had in New Orleans. Only suggest purchasing if you like soup that is the equivalent of a bowl of jalapenos."

Cooking instructions

Ready to Serve (Do not add water): Stove top: Heat in saucepan. Microwave: Heat in covered microwavable bowl on high 2-4 min. Careful - leave in microwave 1 min; stir. Refrigerate leftovers. Best if used by date on can end.
